I awoke today, 7th September, 2014, deeply burdened and grieved by recent events in which I have witnessed with alarming intensity the words Jesus spoke in Matthew 24, verse 12 about the love of many Christians growing cold coming to pass. Having not had much sleep, I intended to pray about this and then try to get some more sleep. However, after prayer, my mind was filled with the beginnings of the lyrics to a new AusDisciples Band song.
I wrote down these initial words and then rolled over to sleep.
Not long after I had drifted off, I was awoken with more words in my head so I wrote those down too.
This process repeated a number of times until I had an entire song written down.
Despite a lack of sleep and the ensuing tiredness, the music has come just as quickly. I sat down at my piano a couple of hours ago with the words in front of me and just started to play whatever came to me. Within an hour, I had the music written too. I will present this to a dear sister in Christ who I am working with on our as yet unfinished project of traditional hymns and see if she is interested in doing the vocal parts. Lord willing, I am aiming to begin the recording process ASAP and am eager to share the results with everyone.
Here are the lyrics:
Endure to the End (The Love of Many) – AusDisciples Band
Chorus
Don’t let your heart grow cold,
don’t you be next.
Don’t let your love grow old,
don’t you be vexed.
The love of many’s grown cold,
in wicked days.
But those who endure to the end,
Jesus saves!
Verse 1
There are schisms over ‘isms,
in the west in Jesus’ name.
While in the east they’re being beheaded,
for the faith that they proclaim.
Pride has replaced the mercy,
that the LORD said we must show.
So-called brother hating brother,
eternal fire awaits below.
Chorus
Verse 2
Satan’s prowling like a lion,
temptation’s bashing at your door.
This wicked world can’t get enough,
and few are warning what’s in store.
Dead to Christ, too blind to see,
heavy burdens they do lay.
There’s still time for them to turn,
but this could be their final day.
Chorus
Verse 3
Once a light upon a hill,
shining bright for all to see.
Today an enemy of the blood,
that Jesus shed on Calvary.
A grievous burden to the saints,
hypocrites they have become.
Still we love and pray for them,
to be restored in Christ as one.
Chorus
Verse 4
They attack us in their pride,
but we must not play their game.
Instead we are called to love them,
that their anger we might tame.
By our love for one another,
Jesus said that we would show,
that we are His disciples,
so the world would see and know.
Chorus
End.
Tha.nk you so much for sharing this.
